What is AI outbound calling?
AI outbound calling is the use of an AI voice agent to place calls to leads or customers and hold the conversation itself, instead of a human rep on a dialer. The agent dials, talks, qualifies or books, logs the outcome, and hands the call to a person only when one is needed.
Older outbound tools automate the dialing and leave the talking to reps. Here the conversation is automated too, so call capacity is no longer tied to headcount. The rules do not change: consent, Do Not Call scrubbing and calling hours apply to every call, and the FCC has ruled that AI-generated voices count as artificial voices under the TCPA.
Common uses are first calls to new inbound leads, old lead lists, renewals and reminders. The full breakdown, including how campaigns are set up and measured, is in our AI outbound calling guide.
