01
Open house Sundays
Buyers who walk an open house and call your number that afternoon get a real conversation and a Monday appointment, not a voicemail box.
02
Letter before deadline
A buyer needs an updated pre-approval letter tonight for an offer due at 9am. The agent captures address and price and pages the on-call LO.
03
In-process questions
Borrowers already in underwriting ask which document is missing or where the file stands. The agent answers from what you approve and logs the rest.
04
Rate-lock escalations
A borrower asking about locking or extending a lock is routed to your on-call loan officer, because rate locks are a loan officer's decision.

Mortgage questions show up after the branch closes
Home buying runs on evenings and weekends. Buyers tour houses on Saturday, sit through an open house on Sunday afternoon and decide to write an offer that night. That is when they need a pre-approval letter with a new price on it, or want to know whether the condo they just saw changes their numbers. Meanwhile borrowers already in process check email at 9pm, find a conditions list from underwriting and call to ask what it means. All of it lands on a voicemail greeting.
Some of those calls can wait until Monday. Some cannot. An offer due at noon Sunday with no updated letter can cost the buyer the house, and cost your loan officer the deal and the realtor who sent it. A borrower asking about a rate lock on a Friday night needs someone with authority, quickly. A generic answering service takes a name and number, which tells the LO nothing about which of a dozen callbacks has to happen first.
How Harmony.ai handles a borrower call at 8pm on a Saturday
Forward your main line or your LOs' lines after hours, and the agent answers on the first ring in your company's name. It asks who is calling and why, then branches. A new buyer gets the questions your LOs would ask (purchase or refi, rough price range, timeline, whether they have a realtor) and a booked appointment. An in-process borrower is verified using the steps you set, and simple questions about documents or next steps are answered from information you have approved.
When a call matches your urgent rules, such as an offer deadline within a day, a pre-approval letter request or any question about locking, extending or floating a rate, the agent pages or warm-transfers the on-call loan officer with a short summary. If nobody picks up, it books the earliest callback and tells the borrower when to expect it. It never quotes rates, never issues a letter itself and never presents itself as a loan officer.
The Monday morning handoff in your LOS and CRM
Every after-hours call is written back through an API integration we build for your loan origination system, Salesforce Financial Services Cloud or other CRM. The record shows caller name and number, new or existing borrower, loan number if verified, reason for the call, an urgency flag, whether the on-call LO was reached, any booked appointment, documents mentioned, a summary and the transcript, so the team starts the day with a sorted list instead of voicemails.
Licensing and fair lending rules still apply after hours
The SAFE Act requires licensing or registration for any individual who, for compensation, takes a residential mortgage loan application and offers or negotiates loan terms. That is why the agent captures details and routes rather than advising: questions about rate locks, pricing or program terms go to your licensed loan officer, even at midnight.
Intake questions follow the same discipline. Regulation B restricts certain questions a creditor can ask, for instance about marital status when someone applies for individual unsecured credit. Nothing outside the evening question list your compliance team approved gets asked, and each call's recording and transcript stay available for audit. This is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions
It can't. It captures the property address, offer price and deadline, then pages or transfers your on-call loan officer, who decides whether to issue the letter. If the LO can't be reached, the request is flagged as urgent for first thing in the morning.
The agent treats it as an escalation. Rate-lock questions go to the on-call loan officer by page or warm transfer, with a summary of what the borrower asked, because the agent does not quote or negotiate terms.
It asks only the questions your compliance team approves. Regulation B limits what creditors may ask about, so the intake list is reviewed before launch and the agent does not add questions on its own. Every call is recorded and logged.
It will. You can forward your main line or individual LO numbers after hours, and callers keep dialing the number on your website and business cards. Call details go to your LOS or CRM through the integration we build, so the morning team works from the record they already use.
