01
Pre-due-date reminders
Customers hear about the upcoming payment a few days out, with the amount and due date from your system, and can pay by link on the call.
02
Promise to pay
A customer who cannot pay today picks a date and amount. The promise is logged to the account, and a missed one triggers a follow-up call.
03
Secure payment link
The link goes out by text during the call, so card details are typed into your payment provider's page instead of read aloud.
04
Repossession stays human
Questions about starter-interrupt devices, GPS, repossession or redemption go straight to your collections staff with the transcript attached.

A BHPH collections desk works the late list and skips the rest
Buy-here-pay-here dealers and dealer-affiliated finance companies carry their own paper, so collections is part of running the store. Payments are often weekly or biweekly and timed to paydays, which means the due-date list turns over constantly. The collections desk spends the day on accounts already past due, and customers who are a few days from a due date never hear from anyone. Those are the cheapest accounts to keep current and the first ones to slip.
The calls themselves are delicate. A customer two weeks behind wants to know whether the car is about to be picked up, and whoever answers has to stay inside policy without making promises the store cannot keep. Some stores run collections in-house, others hand later buckets to a collection agency, and the rules differ depending on who is calling. Doing it the same way at volume, with every promise written down, is hard for a two-person desk.
Reminders, promises to pay and payment links on installment contracts
Harmony.ai pulls the accounts your policy says to call: upcoming due dates, payments a few days late, or a promise to pay that was missed. It verifies the customer with your right-party questions before saying anything about the account, then gives the amount and due date from your system. If they can pay, it texts a secure payment link and stays on the line until the payment confirms. If they cannot, it records a promise to pay with a date and amount inside the limits you set.
The agent never argues a balance and never threatens. GPS trackers, starter-interrupt devices, repossession, redemption and voluntary surrender are outside its script, so it tells the customer a staff member will follow up and routes the account to your collections team. Disputes and hardship claims are captured word for word, and outreach on that account pauses according to your rules. The agent never claims to be human and runs the same approved script on every call.
What gets posted to the account after each payment call
Outcomes post to your DMS or collection system through an integration we build for it, and your payment provider stays where it is. Each account gets the attempt and result, right-party verified or not, payment taken with its confirmation reference, promise-to-pay date and amount, broken-promise follow-up, dispute or hardship flag, the escalation reason for repossession or GPS questions, and the recording and transcript, so your staff start the next call with the full history.
First-party collections rules for dealer-financed contracts
The FDCPA and Regulation F cover third-party debt collectors, and a creditor collecting its own debts is generally outside them, though state laws such as California's Rosenthal Act can reach first-party creditors. If accounts go to a third-party collector, Regulation F presumes compliance with call-frequency limits at no more than seven calls in seven days about a debt, and none within seven days after a phone conversation about it. Your counsel decides which rules apply to each bucket, and the agent enforces that cadence.
A customer who put a cell number on the credit application gave prior express consent to be called at that number about the debt, under the FCC's 2008 ruling. That is why the agent sends a payment link rather than collecting card numbers by voice, since card payments taken over the phone fall under PCI DSS. Every collections call is recorded and logged for audit. This is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions
No. Repossession, GPS trackers, starter-interrupt devices and voluntary surrender always go to a person on your collections team. The agent tells the customer someone from the store will follow up, flags the account and attaches the transcript, so your staff know exactly what was asked.
The FDCPA and Regulation F generally cover third-party collectors, not a creditor collecting its own contracts, though state laws like California's Rosenthal Act can reach first-party creditors. If a collection agency works your accounts, Regulation F applies to that agency. Your counsel sets the rules for each case and the agent follows them on every call.
The agent texts a secure link to your payment provider and waits while the customer completes it. Card numbers are entered on the payment page, not spoken to the agent, and the confirmation is posted to the account before the call ends.
It can, once we build the integration against your DMS or collection system through its API, so the agent gives the current amount and due date from the account itself. Promises, payments and escalations are written back, so the next person to open the account sees what happened.
