AI lead qualification for auto dealerships
OEM, marketplace and trade-in leads pile up faster than a BDC can work them, and most never get a real conversation. Harmony.ai calls each one on your script, learns the vehicle, payment plan and timeline, and books qualified shoppers with a sales consultant.

01
Third-party lead triage
Marketplace and OEM leads get a call that separates window shoppers from buyers who have a vehicle and a month in mind.
02
Equity-mining lists
Owners your desk flags as being in a good equity position hear an upgrade offer and are asked whether they want numbers worked up in person.
03
Trade-in appraisal requests
The agent collects year, make, model, mileage and condition notes, then books an appraisal time. It never names a value.
04
Service-to-sales handoffs
Owners of high-mileage vehicles seen in the service drive get a follow-up call about replacing them, with a consultant booked if they say yes.

Third-party leads pile up faster than a BDC can sort them
A dealership buys leads from the OEM, from marketplace listings and from its own website, and they all land in the CRM looking the same. One is a shopper who wants a specific trim this weekend. Another clicked a payment calculator once and forgot about it. The BDC has to call all of them to find out which is which, and by the time a rep works down to Tuesday's marketplace leads, the real buyers in that pile have already walked a lot across town.
Equity-mining reports and trade-in appraisal requests add to the stack. Each one is a decent opportunity that needs an actual conversation: what they drive now, roughly what they owe on it, whether they want new or pre-owned, and whether they are paying cash or financing. Reps skip those calls when the phones get busy, so the leads with the most information attached are often the ones nobody dials. No lost deal shows up on a report. The appointment board is just thinner than it should be.
How the agent qualifies a car shopper on one call
Harmony.ai calls each lead on the script your sales manager approves. It confirms the vehicle of interest by model and trim, asks whether they want new or pre-owned, and asks about a trade, capturing year, make, model and mileage. Then it asks about timing and whether they plan to finance, lease or pay cash. Answers are scored against the criteria you set, so a shopper buying this month with a trade moves to the top and a browser with no timeline goes to nurture.
Qualified shoppers get an appointment with a sales consultant booked during the call, or a warm transfer to the floor while you are open. If someone wants to talk about financing, the agent records F&I interest as a flag and leaves the rest to your finance manager. It does not discuss credit, approvals, rates or payments, and it never quotes a trade value. When a shopper asks something off script, the agent says a consultant will cover it at the appointment.
What lands on the lead record in VinSolutions or your CRM
Every call writes back to the CRM and DMS you already run, whether that is VinSolutions, Dealertrack, CDK Global or another system. We don't ship a fixed connector catalog; Harmony.ai connects through APIs and we build the integration you need. The record gets vehicle of interest, new or pre-owned, trade year, make, model and mileage, purchase timeline, cash, finance or lease preference, the F&I interest flag, a qualification status, the booked appointment and assigned consultant, plus the recording, transcript and a short summary to read before the customer walks in.
Consent, AI voice rules and customer data on qualification calls
When a qualification call markets a vehicle, an artificial-voice call needs the called party's prior express written consent. The FCC confirmed in 2024 that AI-generated voices count as artificial voices under the TCPA, so these calls sit under that same consent rule. Your compliance team decides which lead sources carry valid consent language, and the agent only dials leads that pass the check.
A dealer that arranges financing is a financial institution under the FTC Safeguards Rule, which calls for an information security program protecting customer information. Trade and financing answers gathered on these calls belong inside that program. Harmony.ai holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification, and each qualification call is recorded and logged for audit. This is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions
It can. It asks whether they plan to pay cash, finance or lease, records the answer and flags F&I interest for your finance manager. It never discusses credit scores, approvals, rates or monthly payments, and it never tells a shopper what they qualify for.
Never. It gathers the year, make, model, mileage and any condition notes, then books an appraisal with your used car manager or a consultant. Numbers come from your people after they see the vehicle.
Only leads that pass the consent rules your compliance team sets. AI voice calls that market a vehicle need prior express written consent under the TCPA, and the FCC treats AI voices as artificial voices. The agent checks each lead's consent status before dialing and logs the result.
During open hours the agent can warm-transfer the call to the floor or the BDC with the trade and timeline already summarized. If nobody picks up, it books an appointment on the consultant's calendar and writes it to your CRM through the integration we build for your store.
